Apr 16, 2021

Today is the last call for artists! Local Color Studio Gallery is celebrating its 6th year in business by hosting a juried exhibition at the gallery from April 24th to June 7th. We're excited to sponsor this event that highlights extraordinary talent in Northwest Arkansas and the surrounding region. To apply, send up to 10 images of your work and a brief description or artist statement to alexbcogbill@gmail.com.

The jury for this exhibition will be Leana Fischer, Jason Jones, and our very own Josh Siebert. More about the jurors:

Leana Fischer discovered her love for painting in 2013 after leaving a job in architecture to move from Virginia to Arkansas. She is the artist behind May We Fly, an online shop where you can find her artwork for sale in various formats, as well as her online watercolor workshops. Her work celebrates the wonder of the little things and the beauty in everyday life. Some of her clients include Hallmark, Papyrus, and Trader Joe's.

Jason Jones has been a working muralist for over 20 years. His whimsical art can be seen in public and private spaces throughout the Ozarks. In addition to his murals, Jones has gained recognition by painting on discarded art. He began by taking a damaged print from a frame he picked up at a thrift store and deciding it needed the addition of a robot. Jones creates his altered thrift store art by altering vintage oil paintings and prints with hand-painted, color palette and style matching twists on the original works. Jones lives in Fayetteville, where he maintains a studio for sketching commissioned murals and creating his altered thrift store art.

Josh Siebert is an owner and principal designer at modus studio, where, besides his undeniable architectural design abilities, he is known for his unique skills as a sketch artist. Originally from Green Forest, Arkansas, Siebert graduated from the Fay Jones School of Architecture + Design and went on to work for firms such as HOK Sport (now known as Populous). At HOK, he worked on large-scale sports facilities such as Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., before assembling his diverse portfolio of architectural work over the past 12 years at modus studio. Siebert's work on The Evans Tree House at Garvan Woodland Gardens earned a National AIA Small Projects Award in 2019.
