Phillip Kling, Assoc. AIA

Architecture has the ability to transform places and peoples’ lives through the beauty it provides. From a very early age, Phillip knew that he wanted to be an architectural designer. Growing up in Batesville, Arkansas, in a home that his dad built, he was fascinated by the ability to shape the places we live and work. This led to his eventual move to Fayetteville to pursue a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Arkansas Fay Jones School of Architecture.

While enrolled, Phillip landed a part-time job as a shop technician in the Fay Jones School. Here, his knowledge of working with his hands and his passion for working with wood developed. At the same time, he was learning a lot about climate change and sustainability, which he was passionate about addressing in his work. These two interests culminated in Phillip taking a studio centered around wood innovation that’s work was featured in Architect Magazine. He graduated with his Bachelor of Architecture and went into practice doing remodels for large retail stores.

After a year of work, Phillip returned to the Fay Jones School to get his Master of Design with a concentration in Integrated Wood Design. This was his segue into his current position at modus studio working alongside a collaborative team of architectural designers.
